The Mitten Mural Title

Make a mural for THE MITTEN.  All you need is a large sheet of mural paper about 3 feet by 6 feet and paints or crayons.  Click on the small pictures to download the full sized artwork, or click on the link below each picture for the PDF version.  Then color, cut out the images and paste to the mural.  Print as many copies as you wish.
After your mural paper is tacked up by using your copier creatively, the elements I have drawn for you can be manipulated to create variety and drama.

Hints:  To make the perspective of your mural put the smallest objects in front.

The curator at the Ukrainian museum gave me advise.  She said, "Niki's clothes should be a bit too big of him.  Ukrainian families would made clothes by hand to last a long time.   His jacket, pants and even his boots might be passed down from an older brother"
She also said, "Ukrainians love to dress their children in red."

At the Ukrainian museum in New York City the curator told me that water jugs are stuck upside down on the wattle,  or woven stick fences surrounding traditional buildings.  They show, for the passerby, that a spring lies on the other side and that the jugs are an invitation to stop and have a drink of cool fresh water.  The stork's nest on the rooftop is good luck!  The stork has flown south for the winter, but is a welcome sight in the spring.

This is the top of the hollow tree.  One branch has room to put the owl on a perch.  After printing the top, you can make multiple tops, cut them down and add to the original to make a full crown on the bas - (panels #1 and #2) or use this panel alone to make a short bushy tree.

This is the middle panel of the hollow tree.  Copy it or "mirror",  along with the other two sections (or mirror) to create the illusion of two trees.

Nicki wanted white mittens, but being white they are easy to lose in the snow.   The wild animals spotted the lost mitten and each one thought it was a very good place to hide.
